This is the required course to receive the Paraeducator Generalist II with the Area of Concentration:  Special Needs.

Successful completion of the Paraeducator Generalist Certification course(s) is a prerequisite to receive a Level II certification (Area of Concentration).

Reminder:  You must have been issued your Paraeducator Generalist Certificate by the Board of Educational Exmainers (BOEE) prior to completing this course in order to use the credit from this course to renew your Paraeducator Generalist Certificate.

The Special Needs course is designed to further the paraeducator''s understanding of the special nature of the special needs student.  Coursework will be delivered both face-to-face via Zoom and online coursework with assigned readings and written assignments.  All participants must have access to a working email address as well as a computer or tablet with Internet access to complete the assignments.

REQUIRED BOOK:  Participants are required to order the book “The Paraprofessional''s Handbook for Effective Support in Inclusive Classrooms” (2nd edition) by Julie Causton and Kate MacLeod.  It is available from Amazon as an ebook or print book, either option works.
