HL - Paraeducator Area of Concentration: Library, Media and Technology

This is the required course to receive the Paraeducator Certification Generalist II with the Area of Concentration: Library, Media and Technology.

Successful completion of the Paraeducator Generalist Certification course(s) is a prerequisite to receive a Level II certification (Area of Concentration).

Reminder: You must have been issued your Paraeducator Generalist Certificate by the Board of Educational Examiners (BOEE) prior to completing this course in order to use the credit from this course to renew your Paraeducator Generalist Certificate.

The Library, Media and Technology course is designed to further the paraeducator''s understanding of working in a school-based library.

This is a hybrid course that will meet two times via Zoom with additional coursework being completed in an online learning environment.  So all participants must have access to a computer or tablet device with Internet access to complete this course.  Directions for accessing and completing the online coursework will be discusssed during the first Zoom class meeting.

A prerequisite for this course is having completed and received the Paraeducator Generalist (Level I) certification. The course will meet via Zoom on Monday, June 15 (5:00-7:00 PM) and Monday, June 22 (5:00-7:00 PM), 2026. There will be additional asynchronous learning coursework that will need to be completed via Canvas outside of the Zoom sessions and is due by 11:59 PM on July 2, 2026. Participants will need access to a computer or tablet device. Please have copies of your district's policies around Internet usage, social media, user behavior and library use. You will also need to be able to communicate with your building or district librarian during class via email. The instructor, Nichole Coe, will email the Zoom link one week before the first synchronous learning session. All instructions for the online work will be provided during the first Zoom session.
